North-East Link
A year ago, I took some photos of the progress of Melbourne’s North-East Link freeway project. I thought I’d return for an update.
The North-East Link Project is a major infrastructure initiative aimed at improving road connectivity in Melbourne’s northern and eastern suburbs. The project involves the construction of a new freeway, which will connect the M80 Ring Road to the Eastern Freeway, helping to reduce traffic congestion, improve travel times, and enhance transport links across the region. I took these photos last year, but a lot has happened since then.
There’s a hill with a mobile phone tower on the top that sits at the intersection between the Metropolitan Ring Road and Greensborough Bypass that offers splendid views of the works. It’s well worth a treck to the top to take a look. I also took some photos from the Macorna Street and Nell Street pedestrian bridges, both of which will soon be demolished.
